Fun Fly - calendar events

I was wondering if there was a list somewhere of the upcoming fun fly events. Or better yet, can the events be posted to the calendar? New members (like me) might need a few weeks to prepare for things like the float fly. Speaking of the float fly, is that next month (May) or the month after that?

Mike E is keeping things under wraps

Last year we put the entire list into the calendar in early January.

This year the fun fly guys are keeping things under wraps a bit. That way they can change the events if needed.

I believe that next month is the float fly. If the weather is good it'll be a blast so you should drop by even if you don't have floats.

Calendar

Yeah, I asked if we could just put all the events up on the calendar in January again, and Mike asked me to hold off on publishing them all. I still have a number to add, though, from the NURCAC and UVA calendars. I haven't kept up as well as I did last year, though.

SPAD seaplane

OK, I'll just assume that the float fly is next month and get started on my SPAD seaplane right away. Has anybody made one of these before?

Aircore makes coro floats

Aircore makes coro floats that will work on the plane you already have. You just take the gear off and put the floats on. They are easy to build. It's what I use.

floats

Yeah, I could probably build some coro-floats pretty easily, but I'm using this as an excuse to build a new plane. Plus, I'm hoping to have something I can fly a bit during the winter. The plane that's been on my mind is the snowmaster: http://www.benjamminsvideos.rchomepage.com/snowmasterplans.html

Has anybody tried this or something similar? I'm planning to scale the plans up by 1.3x and put a .46LA on top.

Attractive!

That's an attractive coro plane! I never finished building the spad trainer I started 4 years ago... the wing is built, as is most of the fuse, but I got into small electrics first. That particular plane looks really nice, though, and looks like it would work well for snow or lake just fine. Good luck!

seaplane flying weight

As some of you saw, my coro-seaplane is almost complete. It is extremely tail heavy and the overall weight is already over 6 pounds. I'm afraid that by the time I've added enough nose weight to fix the CG, it will be too heavy to fly well. Can anybody comment on what the average flying weight is for a 40 size seaplane? (Flying Hull type, not a land-based plane with pontoons.)
thanks!

My plane is all coro - even

My plane is all coro - even the floats (you saw it). With the floats its empty weight is 7.5 lbs. It's 6.02 without the floats.

I fly it on a GMS 47 with an 11 x 5 prop and it gets off the water no trouble.

Put one of those spiffy new OS 55's on it with a more open muffler and it'll fly.
