Tower Hobbies .75 engine on the Hobbistar 60 plane...

I found a guy in Ogden selling his Hobbistar 60 with the TH .75 engine mounted in it. I know from reading that that is more then enough power for the plane, my questions is this:

1) Is this a good reliable engine? What are the pros and cons for those of you who have used it?

2) Is the Hobbistar 60 a good trainer? When I go to look at the plane, what should I look for specifically?

Thank you for your help.

O, ps, is the Airtronics VG400 a good Tx? That is the one the guys is selling with the plane.

Well, that is it for now anyway. I'm sure I will have more ?'s soon.

Hobbistar 60 trainer

I have a Hobbistar 60 trainer with an O.S.91 four stroke on it and I love this plane. The best thing is that it is big and a good flyer. The .75 is a bit overpowered for it but not too much. The Hobbistar 60 has a semi symetrical wing which makes it better than a flat bottom trainer in my opinion. I think it tracks better and does not baloon on landing approach like a typical trainer. It will do inside and outside loops very well and flies inverted very well also. Low inverted passes are fun and solid with this plane.
There are 3 versions of this plane. The first one had plastic wing tips and tail tips and were not very good. the second and third editions did not have the plastic tips and are a much better plane. Make sure you are not using EZ connectors on the control rods that came with the plane. make new control rods if you need to and have a z bend at the servo and a normal clevis on the control surface. make ssure there is no slop in the linkage as the control surfaces will flutter easily if there is any slop.
The VG400 is a very basic 4 channel radio and will work just fine for the Hobbistar as it only needs a 4 channel radio to fly it. The VG400 does not have adjustable servo travel or digital trims. It does have trainer ability.
