Getting tired of Wednesdays weather pattern....

It seems like the past 3-4 Wednesdays have been CRAPPY as can be weather....I am getting very upset with this weather pattern.

I have been wanted to come out and visit the park on these days to get a fist hand look at it again and ask some questions, but how can I when this crappy weather keeps us...

Ugghhh.....

I may go out anyway. Just

I may go out anyway. Just looked at the weather radar and it looks like this will pass over. Not sure how wet it will be at the model port, but who knows, it may quit raining and some flying can be done. Hopefully an instructor or 2 will show.

What radar are you looking

What radar are you looking at.. KSL... I have been monitoring it a lot and it does seem like it will.... so you will be going anyway huh... interesting....

Do you live in SLC.. Im in riverton ans it pouring right now....

Im in West Valley. It was

Im in West Valley. It was pouring here, but its letting up. I use weather underground to check the weather. Its always been very reliable when I have needed to know what the weather was going to do.

Sweet... guess ill head out

Sweet... guess ill head out as well. I told myself that I was going no matter what, then the stupid rain... but guess it cant hurt to check it out.. it does look like it is clearing a bit.....

JMP Weather

Check the right-hand column under Resources - Flying Site Weather. The Jordan Modelport has both a forecast and current weather listing, which are really near the field. The weather listing showed trace rain much of the day, ending just before 6:00 PM today.

And yeah, the last four Wednesdays have been bad. Maybe I'll come out this coming Wednesday (May 14) just to be able to meet you :)

You can't ever tell

I've seen days where the weather was really bad at my house (Taylorsville) but just fine at the model port. Sometimes you just have to go and see...

Ya, I agree. I will be there

Ya, I agree. I will be there again tomorrow and hope people show up this time. Went last week and no one showed up... :(

Granted it was raining most of the day, but at 600 it was nice weather.... Oh well.

Gonna try to come

I don't have an appropriate trainer, but I do have a JR-compatible radio system (Spektrum) and I'll see if I can show up. I'm betting that since the weather was fine today, we'll see a few other trainers.

I drive a red Honda Insight and will be wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt with pockets that have flaps on them. Maybe I should wear my Ute windbreaker, even though it's never fit well.

I'm hoping it will be nice.

I'm hoping it will be nice. wind seems to be not to bad... so well see when I get there.

Missed you...

There were four of us there in Ute hats and jackets instructing last night. There were five students, but one of them hadn't quite built his ARF trainer right, so he said he'd be back the next week after fixing his plane. I spent most of the evening with Brian on his old trainer. He has his own buddy-cord setup using an old transmitter and a current Futaba, and the plane flew GREAT! No damage, despite one wing-tap while Brian was attempting a landing, and I was really impressed with how quiet and reliably that old trainer flew. I'm used to much faster aircraft, and was amazed by how slow and gently I could land that bird.

Anyway, if the weather's nice, I'm going to see if I can finagle with the wife to come out again next week. Now I just need to get myself a buddy-box and build a trainer. All my stuff is either fast, 3D, or a sailplane, so that means I can only train people who have JR equipment and their own plane, or have their own buddy-box setup at the moment.

Heh, and on the note of "fast planes", I experienced my first speed-induced lockup of a control surface on my Mach Racer. I was probably doing about ninety over the runway with a full tank, pulled up, and went into a hard spiral because only one of my elevons was unable to push its control surface. I either need stronger servos or smaller control surfaces... or possibly both. And maybe I should relocate that gas tank to the CG, put a small header tank near the engine because I went up from a 190cc (6.4 oz) tank to a 10oz tank, and I could feel that the bird was much more nose-heavy with a full tank than before.

I recovered by reducing throttle to idle and riding out the spiral until I got control authority back. I'm glad for the habit of keeping altitude rather than flying low all the time!
