Warbirds Over Utah

Can someone please describe what the Warbirds Over Utah event is like? I'm a fairly new pilot and don't have any amazing skills to show off. How could I participate A) without boring everyone, and B) without making a complete fool of myself in front of the general public? Are there any contests? How formalized is it? Is it like a full-scale airshow with flights planned throughout the day, or is it a free-for-all? I just might be tempted to make some sort of a warbird SPAD for this if it fits with the program.

Are we talking about the

Are we talking about the Expo/Warbird event in August?

If so, show up and fly. No pressure. It's just a chance to see lots of really great warbirds and to get some stick time in. Spads are fine, I've flown mine there. Dang near crashed it in the high cross wind too :)

Here is how it goes:

You register as a pilot.
You give all your radios to the radio impound officer.
When you want to fly you check out your radio from the impound officer and go fly.
Other people are flying (hopefully).
Sometimes you get a free raffle ticket for each flight.
When you are done, check your radio in and get your raffle ticket.

Sometimes there is a scheduled performance (heli flights or the Utah Show Team).
Just watch for who is preping what plane and you can tell who is going to fly next.

There is an announcer with a P.A. system that keeps everyone informed what is next. Who's in the air. And who just crashed <grin>.

The goal is to keep airplanes in the air so the spectators aren't bored.

That's about it.
