2018-09-08 UteRC Night Fly, Part 2 Patterns in the Night Sky

Well after dusk when the sky finally turned dark enough for long time exposures, the following images were captured with 15-second exposures of the planes flying with their brightly glowing LED lights making trails in the dark sky.

2018-07-14 UteRC Mystery Fly Contest

Upon arrival at the UteRC field for the Mystery Fly Contest under cloudy skies at 9:00 am, I was surprised that no one was there. With threatening skies and no pilots I started back to SLC. Before I got to the gate, I met our Fun Fly Coordinator, Rick Marshall. He was surprised, too, but had brought a couple of planes and wanted to fly anyway. So...

2018-07-12 UteRC Meeting

Entertainment for the meeting was "Present You Favorite Plane". Steve Wilson responded with an in-depth presentation on the PBY Catalina, his favorite plane.

2018-06-16 UteRC Egg Drop Contest

The popular UteRC Egg Drop Contest was held early Saturday morning in calm air and cool temperatures. Each flyer got three flights to drop an egg closest to the pylon target positioned in mid-field. The main difficulty for the pilot was in judging whether the plane was lined up over the target from the his viewpoint perpendicular to the flight path.

The meeting brought out Show N Tell egg dropping mechanisms and some electronic wizardry.

2018-06-08 Dawn Patrol at UteRC Field

The Dawn Patrol is a group of fliers in the UteRC club that assemble at dawn at the UteRC field to fly their planes while the wind is usually calm in the early morning.

2018-05-26 NURCAC Memorial Weekend Fun Fly

The Northern Utah Radio Control Aircraft Club held their annual Memorial Weekend Fun Fly at their private field about 9 miles West of Ogden on 12th Street. At this annual event, anyone with a current AMA license was welcome to fly their RC aircraft.

2018-05-19 UteRC Float Fly

The UteRC Spring Float Fly at Lincoln Beach on Utah Lake had perfect flying weather. It was sunny, but not hot, with fluffy clouds, calm winds, and NO bugs.

2018-05-10 UteRC Meeting

Highlight at the May meeting was Dave Stack showing his 1/15 scale electric powered WWI German Gotha G.IV heavy bomber.

An overview of Dave Stack's German Gotha G.IV heavy bomber of WWI from a Maxford USA kit. The model is electric powered with motors and pusher props in two nacelles between the wings.
